Heat Closes Philly Summer Schools

School District officials announce that all summer activities will conclude early today and tomorrow due to excessive heat.

The School District of Philadelphia has announced that excessive heat will prompt them to cancel all summer enrichment programs today. They are also canceling tomorrow’s sessions in anticipation of another extremely hot and humid day.

According to the National Weather Service, the combination of temperatures in the high 90’s and high humidity could create a situation in which heat illness is possible.

Activities will conclude at 1 p.m., with routine transportation continuing. Teachers and support staff will be on site today until all students are dismissed.

These high temperatures once again beg the question, would you rather face a winter blizzard or a summer heat wave?
