A funeral has been set for one of Delawareβs finest.
A public viewing and mass will take place on Friday for slain New Castle County Police Sergeant Joseph Szcerba.
Szcerba was stabbed to death last Friday while responding to a domestic violence call in Wilmington. He was 44-years-old.
David Salasky, 32, was arrested and charged with the crime. Court records show Salasky had a long criminal history and was on probation during the time of his arrest.
Szcerba was an 18-year veteran of the New Castle County Police Department. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kathy Szcerba.
The public viewing will take place at 9 a.m. at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington. The viewing will be followed by a mass of Christian Burial starting at 1 p.m. The burial will be private.
