Driver Sentenced for Deadly South Jersey Crash

A motorist who was under the influence of prescription medication when he struck and killed an elderly southern New Jersey man has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Robert Kusznikow of Stafford Township must serve nearly five years of the term imposed Friday before he becomes eligible for parole.

The Asbury Park Press reports Kusznikow had pleaded guilty in May to vehicular homicide charges in the September 2011 death of 76-year-old Michael Grosso. The newspaper said it marked the third time that Kusznikow had been found to be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Ocean County prosecutors say Kusznikow lost control of his pickup truck and struck a utility pole before he hit Grosso, who was parked legally and unloading his own truck.
