Dirtiest Philly Hotel Named in Nat'l Report

The grossest hotel in Philly is located near the stadiums. Surprised?

TripAdvisor.com, the free travel guide and research engine, named the Holiday Inn Philadelphia Stadium as the “dirtiest” hotel in town.

Part of its national survey to reveal “the truth about hotels from the most gleaming to the grimiest,” Trip Advisor based its findings on traveler ratings for cleanliness.

Located near the sports complex that houses the Eagles, the Flyers and the Phillies, this particular Holiday Inn has gotten quite a few ravaging reviews.

Among the pages of disparaging comments were such gems as these:

“The floors sticky & the elevators smelled of beer.”

“Ten-12 ounces of mysterious red juice that someone had spilled outside the front door… had a half-dozen cigarette butts floating in it.”

“Numerous dead bugs on the window sill. Trash behind the TV credenza. Crumbs between the bed and nightstand...Stopped up toilet at 2 a.m…Stained tub.”

“Terrible beyond words.”

Despite Philadelphia’s tendency to get the worst reviews in national surveys (we’ve been ranked among the fattest, the ugliest, the meanest, cities in surveys past), it did not make the top 10 grossest hotels in the country. That privilege went to hotels in San Francisco, Eureka, Mo., Virginia Beach, and Miami – to name a few.

The survey named the Four Seasons, Alexander Inn and Omni Hotel as the top three best overall hotels in Philadelphia.
