Culinary students are embarking on a baking marathon to produce and deliver 10,000 cookies for Delaware law enforcement officers.
A statement from the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services says Wednesday evening's event at Delcastle Technical High School is being dedicated to the memory of New Castle County police Lt. Joseph Szczerba, who died Sept. 16 from a stab wound after responding to an incident.
This is the fourth year that students at the school have held the overnight baking session to say thanks for the work that officers in the area do.
On Thursday morning, the students will load boxes of cookies to be delivered to every police agency in New Castle County. Cookies also will be delivered to police agencies in Kent and Sussex counties.
