Some Delaware towns are threatening fines of $100 or more if residents don't start clearing their sidewalks of snow, but other areas are giving residents a pass.
Most cities in the state have ordinances requiring cleared sidewalks within a day of a snowstorm. But the severity of the most recent storms has meant officials have been giving residents a break. Now, however, some cities are warning residents that they've had enough time to clear.
In Newark, people who don't clear their sidewalks could get a bill of $100 or more, said city spokeswoman Dana Johnston. Dover officials, meanwhile, say residents could be fined $25 a day if sidewalks aren't cleared by Monday.
