15 Delco Cops Lose Jobs in Cheating Scandal

Police officers allegedly cheated on a training exam in 2009

More than a dozen suburban Philadelphia police officers have lost their certifications for allegedly cheating on a training exam in 2009.

State police say 15 officers were stripped of their police officer certifications Thursday by the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission.

Law enforcement officials say the revocations are the result of an investigation into alleged cheating on the commission's in-service exams in Delaware County in February 2009.

The decertified officers belong to eight departments in southeastern Pennsylvania. Four worked for Darby Borough and three for Upland Borough in Delaware County.

State police spokesman Jack Lewis says the decertified officers have 30 days to file appeals the decision to Commonwealth Court.
