A Georgia man will face DUI charges in a crash that killed one person and injured another.
Police say Gabriel Sanchez, 20, of Rocky Face, Georgia, was driving in the southbound lanes on I-95 in South Philadelphia on Sunday shortly before 3 a.m.
As he was driving, Sanchez somehow lost control of his red 2007 Nissan Armada. The vehicle struck the rear of a white 2007 Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling in the right lane.
The Jetta struck the right concrete barrier before coming to a final stop. Police say Sanchez's vehicle continued south and then came to a stop in the middle lane.
The driver of the Jetta, identified as 25-year-old Aaron Carbajal of Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sanchez's passenger, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition.
Police say neither Sanchez nor his passenger had a seat belt on during the time of the accident. Police also say Sanchez displayed several indicators that he was intoxicated. Charges will be filed against him pending approval, according to investigators.
