The Allegheny County Health Department and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said they would follow up on violations found at a Pittsburgh-area food warehouse.
The government oversight began when police pulled over a truck from NYWP Enterprises in McKees Rocks in August and found 150 pounds of meat and fish headed to Ohio, even though the truck's refrigeration unit wasn't working.
The county inspected the company's warehouse in October and the FDA got involved after a rodent nest and at least one dead rat were found on the premises. The inspectors also found litter wasn't properly stored, that workers were using tobacco near food and other food-safety violations.
The violations were posted to the FDA's website last week. The company said in a statement that it has since corrected all the violations.
