Last night, Food & Wine held its annual soiree in New York to celebrate the magazine's latest crop of Best New Chefs. Rather than forcing the newly minted BNCs to serve the hungry masses, F&W rounded up past award winners to cook for the party—which explains why Jonathan Benno (Lincoln), Michael Anthony (Gramercy Tavern), Missy Robbins (A Voce), Tom Colicchio (Craft), and Rocco DiSpirito (author of Now Eat This) all spent the night working.
In this clip, Food & Wine Editor-In-Chief Dana Cowin tells The Feast why the award matters, and describes the doors it opens for chefs. "People throw money at them... if their restaurant wasn't full, people flood in," she says.
