Watermelon Beer, Cocktails at City Tap

The City Tap House, known for their beasty lineup of 44 draft beers, is celebrating the King of Summer Fruit, the watermelon. On August 3, diners can expect a long lineup of watermelon cocktails for $5, and $4 ales and lagers that feature the massive fruit. While we're not normally into fruit beers, we pledge allegiance to 21st Amendment Watermelon Wheat, which will be in attendance.

The centerpiece of the event will be the watermelon eating contest, which kicks off at 7 p.m. It's a winner-take-all situation, with the top prize being two tickets to The Kings of Leon concert on August 12. That should give you just enough time to digest all of that husky melon. We're going to try to take on this challenge, but we make no promises. Also, we are hoping there's an extra credit situation for those willing to eat the rind.

The Fair Food Farmstand in Reading Terminal Market will be providing all of the watermelons for the celebration, and must have a really big truck. [The Feast]
