Unemployed? Go to College for Free

Unemployed? Go to college for free. Yes, free.

If you were laid-off or your business or industry plant was shut down and has left you unemployed and struggling in this time of economic turmoil, you may be eligible to attend Northampton Community College (NCC) for a whole semester FREE; that’s 12 full-time credits at no cost.

“The better educated and trained individuals are, the better positioned they will be for the future … to move into the workforce,” said NCC President Dr. Arthur Scott.

NCC made the announcement Tuesday about their two-fold program that will not only offer a Tuition Waiver program to the unemployed in Northampton or Monroe cities, it will also host a Career Transitions Expo Saturday, December 13 in West Plaza of College Center on the Main Campus.

The Career Transition Expo is a three-hour program that will cover several different topics including ”Crisis as Opportunity, Stress Management, Career Assessment and Tranferrable Skills, Jobs in the Valley and How to Prepare for Them, Financial Aid Options and Lehigh Valley Resources,” to help those individuals who have lost their jobs get moving in the right direction.

The program is set to begin January at the start of the spring semester.
