Some of the best dining in the country is right here at home and now there is proof.
Two Philadelphia restaurants were named in OpenTable's Top 50 Diners' Choice Awards for Restaurants Providing the Best Service.
Center City's Fountain, a fine dining American eatery, and Vetri, a casual Italian restaurant, both made the list -- the only two local restaurants to be named.
Located in the Four Seasons Hotel, Fountain is no stranger to awards. Aside from being named the No. 1 restaurant in Philadelphia by Zagat Survey and receiving nods from the Philadelphia Inquirer, AAA and Bon Appétit, Fountain also received Forbes Travel Guide's 2010 Five-Star Award, says the swanky hotel's website.
The cuisine is mouthwatering but the service is second to none it seems. The average cost to dine is around $50 or more per person -- if you're looking to spend a little less, Fountain is also open for breakfast seven days a week and lunch every day except Sunday.
Open only for dinner Monday through Saturday, Spruce Street's Vetri specializes in homemade pasta an Italian fare.
If you're rather torn between the almond tortellini and the spinach gnocchi, take a risk and order of the a la carte or sampling menu Monday to Thursday and receive an unknown variety of items. And get great service no matter what.
Vetri also averages around $50 or more per person but is reportedly worth every penny.
The awards are given based on more than seven million reviews written by OpenTable diners on more than 12,000 restaurants in all 50 states and even the District of Columbia.
While Philly only took two spots, the Northeast placed third best with 12 overall awards, narrowly beaten by the West with 13. Taking the top honors was the South with a whopping 19 restaurants.
Must be that Southern hospitality.
