Saturday's Music Agenda

Date: Saturday, April 23
Theme: Musicals!

10 a.m. Johnny Rockets
Start your day with a festive breakfast at this South Street quasi-diner, where there is a jukebox on every table and a staff that are prone to break out into song and dance at the drop of a hat.

12:00 p.m. Shadfest 2011
A full day's worth of music, food, sun (we can hope) and, naturally, many references to small fish indigenous to the Delaware River. The musical lineup includes the jazzy folk stylings of the West Philly Orchestra; the indie pop psychedelica of Wilmington's Spinto Band; and a headlining set from Black Landlord, whose horn-back hip hop has made them local favorites. Plus, if you happen to have kiddies with you, there's a huge moon bounce, a magic show and various crafty spots.
Place: Penn Treaty Park
Tickets: Free, baby!

8:00 p.m. The Fabulous Dueling Piano Show
Get your vocal chords ready to belt out "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Hey Jude" and, um, "I Want To Be Sedated," with these cats among others at the newly re-located Jolly's. Sing along to a smorgasbord of pop hits while sipping cocktails and making like you're a camp counselor all over again.
Place: Jolly's Dueling Piano Bar
Cost: $5

11:30 p.m. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Throw rice, heave toast, do time warps, all that stuff you did when you were a teenager and RHPS seemed like the single greatest thing ever to come out of the '70s. Take in the spectacle, crazy transgenderness and the "larfs and sex" of the undisputed King of Cult Movies and complete your day of demonstrative music displays with a bang.
Place: Trocadero Balcony
Cost: $3 gets you in the door and goes towards your first drink!

Theme Night: Wherein we link two or more great events and happenings by a single, dangling thread and encourage you to take a chance and participate.
