Run, Don't Walk to BlobFest

Celebrate at the birthplace of “The Blob”

This is a very special weekend for lovers of the cult classic "The Blob."

The nationally acclaimed BlobFest hits Phoenixville, PA from Friday, July 9 through Sunday, July 11.

Die-hard Sci-fi fans will be able to  watch, chat, and purchase anything and everything "Blob" related.

The 1958 cult classic was originally filmed at the restored <a href="http://Colonial Theatre">Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville on a small budget by unknown moviemakers.

Fans have been in love with the gelatin-like human-eating glob of goo ever since.

The three-day event kicks off on Friday at 9 p.m. when over 300 screaming fans will recreate the most famous scene of the movie -- running out of the theater where the creature has invaded.

Tickets for the reenactment have been sold out since June 30, but don’t worry, you can always admire the madness from afar. If you have tix get there early, doors open at 7 p.m.

The rest of the night features special guests, music and a ton of contests.

Fans can continue their "Blob" love at the Blob Ball. It's for the 21 and over crowd and costs $10 in advance, $12 at the door or $15 for the VIP ticket which gives you access to an exclusive section along with waitress service.

Saturday’s events feature a street fair that’s completely free. A parade starts at noon followed by a costume contest at 1 p.m. Trivia, music, food, vendors and classic cars will take over the streets until 5 p.m. "The Blob" and other low budget 50s flicks will run in the theatre throughout the day. Tickets range from $5 to $10 bucks, depending on the time of day.

On Sunday you can take a self-guided tour that’s perfect for visitors. It gives you local hot spots to visit such as bars, restaurants historical sites and more.
