Pujols Races Away From Howard for NL MVP

Cards slugger wins Second MVP Award

The baseball writer's have spoken and the winner of the NL MVP is the Cardinals Albert Pujols.

Pujols beat out Phillies slugger Ryan Howard to win his second MVP award.

Many Phillies phaithful were hoping for a Phils three-peat -- Howard would have been the third straight Phils player to win the MVP following Jimmy Rollins in '07 and himself in '06.

Howard had a good argument after putting the Phils on his back in September posting a team record 32 RBI for the month while batting .352 and knocking 11 homers. His 48 HR and 146 RBI were both tops in the Majors.

The big knock against Howard was his slow start. His average hovered below .250 for most of the season and he tied a career high with 199 strikeouts.

Pujols won comfortably over Howard. Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun finished third and Dodgers late-season sensation Manny Ramirez was fourth.
