Jonathan Richman Plays the Church

The 'Pablo Picasso' of Punk: The wide-eyed acoustic prose of Modern Lovers' founder Jonathan Richman comes to the First Unitarian Church tonight. After a long hiatus and brief stint in Hollywood, Richman is finally back on tour, much to the delight of aging punk geeks everywhere. $17.50 8 p.m.

Fan The Fire: Tonight, at the Fire, the moto-tour, '90s throwback sound of Levee Drivers play with Ivon and Aloysha, Joshua Park, and Joe D'Amico. Expect lots of subtle head banging, flannel and maybe even a ponytail or two. $7 9 p.m.

Keep Happy Hours: Get your South Philly fix in tonight at The Sidecar. The weather is nice, the sidewalk tables are out; it's time. A dollar off a drafts, HIghlife for $2.50, $2.50 well drinks, and $3.50 call drinks only sweeten the deal. 12-2 a.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every day by peeping Play's Dance Card.
