Han Dynasty Looking to Expand

We stopped by Han Dynasty to chat up our favorite curmudgeon Han Chiang, and he dropped some good news that expansion plans are in the works.

"It's not set in stone yet, but I am looking to expand into Rittenhouse," said Chiang. "I want to do Pan-Asian. I'm not going to do Sichuan this time. I mean, I will have some Sichuan, but I want to Chinese-ize everything. Do Pan-Asian the right way."

After a recent appearance at Amis for Industry Night, and a ridiculously great collaboration dinner with David Ansill of Ladder 15 and Sam Jacobson from Sycamore, Chiang has shown versatility in applying his trademark spicy heat and flavors to elevate other international cuisines. Chiang said he is in talks with Eulogy owner Mike Naessens to do the project together.

"We're looking at at a huge space at 16th and Walnut," said Chiang. "Across from Chipotle."

This is the same location that Top Chef's Spike Mendelsohn is looking at for his Good Stuff Eatery, so we have to wonder which great eatery will be inhabiting the monolithic space. Wherever he ends up, all we know is we can't get enough Han, and by the looks of it, neither can the rest of Philly. Stay tuned to The Feast for details as they emerge. [The Feast]
