Gunner's Run Opens Doors

Name: Gunners Run, named for the creek marking the true northern border of the Kensington neighborhood in North Philly. The place is co-owned by a concert promoter (Bryan Dilworth); a tattoo artist (Jason Goldberg, who also owns Olde City Tattoo); a music booking agent (Tim Borror); and a chef (Shawn Sollberger), making them sort of like Philly nightlife's answer to the Justice League of America, minus Aquaman of course.

Locale: At the Southwest corner of the The Piazza, in the space formerly occupied by the Swift Half. They soft-launched in mid-March and had their big gala grand opening at the end of the month.

Vibe: In keeping with the D.I.Y. hipster vogue of NoLibs in general and the Piazza specifically, the new place is dutifully mellow and unpretentious, with nods to the area's vegans/beer snobs thrown in for good measure.

Booze: The main point of interest here is a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar, where you can throw in such items as shrimp, bacon or a variety of peppers.

Brews: A focus on the locals, but a range of other artisan offerings, featuring brewers such as Bell's, Original Sin, Sly Fox, Six Point, Victory and Yards on the rotation on their 10 taps.

Stuff To Do: Their proximity to the Piazza's huge outdoor HD screen makes it a natural fit for game day/nights.
