Often credited with being a part of the the turn-of-century "it" bag phenomenon with a zipper-wrapped handbag called "The Trigger", Monica Botkier knows a thing or two about turning design trends into retail tidal waves. The bag was a massive hit, especially among the downtown set in New York, and pretty much launched her career as an accessories designer.
Here, the designer discusses the bag's initial success, while also insisting that today's customer actually demands a lot more from retailers and their wardrobes.
