More than 130 people waited in line on Wednesday in Reading. But it wasn’t for a movie premiere, concert tickets or even a book release.
No, 130 people waited in line for the grand opening of a new standalone Chick-fil-A.
People traveled from as far south as Florida, South Carolina and Ohio for the grand opening and the chance to win free Chick-fil-A for a year.
The first 100 adults in line will receive a year’s supply of food when the restaurant opens for business on Thursday at 6 a.m.
Chick-fil-A has given out over $9.1 million in free food at over 90 opening events since they first started offering their “First 100” promotion in 2003.
The Chick-fil-A in Reading, located at 4675 Perkiomen Avenue, is one of five new stand-alone restaurants, as well as new mall location and 10 outlets, opening this year. Those locations will add over 4,500 jobs to the economy.
The 4,227-square-foot restaurant seats 86 and includes a children’s play area and a drive-thru.
