Oprah Annouces S. Jersey Resident Wins Dough

Winning a million dollars for baking the best dessert is a pretty sweet deal, don’t you think?

Well, that's exactly what South Jersey resident Sue Compton did -- she baked her way to victory.

Compton, a mortgage-loan processor from Delanco, was named the winner -- on 'Oprah' -- of the $1 million dollar grand prize in the 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off Wednesday.

She, along with two other finalists, flew down to Orlando over the weekend to battle it out in Pillsbury’s  “Sweet Treat” category.

But, it was Compton’s Mini Ice Cream Cookie Cups that won the judges over.

“Her recipe creates an attractive, but simple dessert: a "cup" made of ready-to-bake sugar cookies (baked in a mini cupcake pan) with a rim of melted chocolate and walnuts; the cup is layered with a spoonful of raspberry jam, then a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and topped with a fresh raspberry,” according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"[It's} easy to serve and still original enough to impress, this is a dessert recipe you can prepare the night before," Judge Jeff Houck told the Inky.
