NBC Philadelphia - Dawn Timmeney
Chubby Checker shows NBC Philadelphia's Dawn Timmeney how to groove.
Philly's own Checker is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his "Twist" by trying to break the Guiness Book of World Records record for people doing "The Twist." Get over to City Hall at noon Friday to join the fun.
Kick off your weekend with a “Twist.”
Chubby -- a Philly native -- first performed the popular dance move 50 years ago this month at the Rainbow Club in Wildwood, N.J.
The Philadelphia Daily News is hosting Chubby for a free concert at City Hall to commemorate the milestone.
The concert will be held at the Dilworth Plaza at City Hall from noon to 12:45 p.m.
Get there early to be part of the first 2,500 people to get a free T-shirt.
One lucky concertgoer will get to twist with Chubby on stage.
Even if you don't get the chance to Twist on stage you can still meet the man himself -- Chubby will sign autographs following the concert. Maybe he will even do a quick Twist with you if you ask.
