Dancing on Air

Learn the art of aerial dance at a weekend workshop

So you have two left feet or lead feet or any kind of feet that make dancing on a regular floor ill-advised. Why not take the floor out of the equation and try out some aerial dancing? That would be the kind of dancing where you're hooked up to harness and then go flying and spinning through the air, therefore making it next to impossible to step on anyone's toes.

If you like the sound of that sort of airborne adventure, you're in luck. The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts is offering a Beginning Aerial Dance workshop this Friday, May 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. led by an aerial dancing expert and choreographer. For $30 and three hours of your time, you'll learn how to "feel the joy of weightlessness" and "run on walls, do back flips, front flips and more."

If you decide you want to feel the joy of weightlessness with a partner, there's also a Duets in the Air workshop on Saturday, May 31. Students must register in advance for the classes.
