Ted Greenberg
NBC 10 New Jersey Shore Bureau Reporter
Updated 6:26 AM EST, Fri, Sep 25, 2009
Ted Greenberg has been reporting for NBC 10 News since June 2003. He is based in the Atlantic City area as NBC 10's Jersey Shore Bureau reporter, focusing on news from Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Ocean counties. In both 2008 and 2007, the Associated Press has honored him with its award for best coverage by a New Jersey-based correspondent.
His arrival at NBC 10 marked a homecoming of sorts for Greenberg, who grew up in Center City Philadelphia and attended Friends Select School. A “news junky" since third grade, he broke into broadcast journalism at the age of 17 with an internship at WCAU-TV in the summer of 1991. Later that summer, Greenberg began a second internship at Atlantic City's NBC affiliate, WMGM-TV 40. He became full-time after his high school graduation and remained there for 5½ years, eventually becoming weeknight 11 p.m. anchor. While working full-time at WMGM-TV, Greenberg also attended college full-time at South Jersey's Richard Stockton College, where he majored in criminal justice.
In February 1997, Greenberg left WMGM-TV for a reporting job in Rochester, N.Y., at CBS affiliate WROC-TV. He remained there until May 1998, when he moved on to WTIC-TV, the Fox station in the Hartford/New Haven, Conn., market. He joined the station as a reporter and added Saturday evening co-anchor to his duties three years later. During his time at WTIC-TV, Greenberg won two Boston/New England Emmy awards for news writing and an Associated Press award for excellence in broadcast journalism.
After nearly 4½ years in Connecticut, Greenberg returned to South Jersey and WMGM-TV in September 2002 to accept the position of station news director and 6 p.m. co-anchor. However, Greenberg missed reporting and, in June 2003, got the opportunity to hit the streets at the station where it all began, NBC 10. He takes great pride in covering the region in which he grew up and is also thrilled to be able to continue serving viewers at the Jersey Shore, where he has been a familiar face for more than a decade. In 2007, he was named by Atlantic City Weekly as one of its Top 40 Under 40, which honors the region's best and brightest young leaders.
When he is not reporting, Greenberg likes nothing more than spending time with his family, especially on the beach and boardwalk. He is also a champion of breast cancer awareness since his mother succumbed to the disease in 2000.
Greenberg and his wife, Toby Rosenthal, live in Atlantic County, N.J. with their daughter Shoshana, and their two cats, Fred and Cinnamon.
Ted was featured on Philly.com's The Gossip with Marnie Hall on April 10, 2009 as the only local reporter who actually lives down the shore:
