Batman forever?

Joliet, Illinois -- Tattoos are all the rage, but there's something not right about the sight of a Batman symbol inked on the arm of a 4-year-old.

We're not talking about those tattoo patches that wash off after a week or two.  We're talking about ink injected into the skin. Permanent. Forever.

Local officials discovered the problem when they looked at a Joliet tattoo artist's Web site and found a picture of the man inking a small child.

George "Hook" Jerutis, 54, has been jailed since Thursday, accused of tattooing two kids.

It's not the first time Hook's been in trouble with the law. In 2001, The Herald News reports, Joliet police charged him with tattooing a 13-year-old and two 15-year-olds.

Police believe there are other children in the south suburbs with Jerutis' tattoo ink under their skin, and they want to know how many.

Any parent who suspects his or her child was tattooed by Jerutis is asked to call the Shorewood Police Department's detective unit.
