Girl, 12, Takes Mom's Car, Gets Arrested in Ocala

Police say a 12-year-old girl is in big trouble after taking her mother's car and speeding down an Ocala road.

The girl was stopped by a police officer who was doing radar checks on Tuesday. Authorities say the girl gave the officer a fake name and age.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports the girl was going 52 in a 35 miles-per-hour zone. The officer followed the vehicle and the girl stopped after several blocks. She told the officer she'd lost her license and didn't have the registration. She gave him a date of birth after thinking about it and asking a 15-year-old passenger if she had it right.

She was taken to a juvenile detention center.
