The newest Phillie will see his first start Sunday afternoon in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Nationals (see game notes).
Ty Kelly will start in left field and bat eighth for the Phils in the matinee in D.C. Since he was acquired from the Blue Jays on April 22, Kelly has two hits in six spot appearances at the plate for Pete Mackanin's club. Both hits were doubles. Kelly made 10 starts for the Mets last summer.
Kelly's insertion to the lineup mean's some changes in the outfield for the Phils, who will see Washington lefty Gio Gonzalez on Sunday afternoon.
Odubel Herrera, who's gone 1 for 10 over the last two games, including an 0-for-5 showing in Saturday's night loss to the Nats, will get not start in Game 1 following a morning meeting with Mackanin (see story).
Aaron Altherr will slide over to center in Herrera's place. Daniel Nava gets the nod in right behind starter Jeremy Hellickson.
Outside of the outfield changes, nothing out of the ordinary for the Phils.
But expect to see a totally different lineup in Game 2 later on tonight.
A couple notes on the Nationals' side for Game 1: Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman are both out of the lineup. Werth left Saturday's game with groin tightness.
And yes, Bryce Harper will start after his walk-off homer and wave at Edubray Ramos less than 24 hours ago.
