BOSTON -- The San Francisco Giants have signed former first-round pick Kyle Drabek to a minor-league deal.
San Francisco will give Drabek a look as a pitcher and possibly infielder, Giants general manager Bobby Evans told ESPN.
Drabek, 28, hasn't pitched in the majors since April 7, when he threw two innings of relief for Arizona.
Drabek, son of 1990 Cy Young Award winner Doug Drabek, signed out of high school with the Phillies in 2006 and was one of their top prospects when Philadelphia dealt him to Toronto in the trade for Roy Halladay in 2009.
Drabek has undergone two elbow reconstruction surgeries and played parts of seven seasons in the majors with the Blue Jays, White Sox and Diamondbacks.
Blue Jays: Bautista to begin rehab games, could return Monday
PHOENIX -- Toronto slugger Jose Bautista is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday and could rejoin the Blue Jays when they open a three-game interleague series at home against San Diego on Monday.
Bautista, out since June 16 with turf toe, will play for Class A Dunedin on Wednesday and play three games with Triple-A Buffalo over the weekend.

"If all's good, you'll probably see him Monday I would guess," manager John Gibbons said before the Blue Jays played the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.
In 65 games this season, the 35-year-old Bautista is batting .230 with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs.
Gibbons said Bautista will be the designated hitter in some games as well as his customary position in right field.
Dodgers: Kershaw out for series vs. Nats because of back pain
WASHINGTON -- Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw won't pitch this week against Washington because of nagging back pain.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says Kershaw will not come off the disabled list for the three-game set that began Tuesday night.
It's still uncertain when the three-time NL Cy Young Award winner will be activated. The left-hander has been out since June 27 because of mild disk herniation. He felt discomfort after a throwing session on Saturday.
"The next day he didn't feel great," Roberts said. "At that point in time that let us know we needed to be a little more on the cautious side. ... Right now, with Clayton, I don't know if it is a step back, but we're going to let the back pain subside and see where it goes."
Pirates: RHP Taillon hit in head by liner but stays in game
PITTSBURGH -- Pirates rookie pitcher Jameson Taillon was struck in the head by a line drive but remained in the game on Tuesday night.
Milwaukee's Hernan Perez hit a 105 mph line drive off the back of Taillon's head with one out in the second inning. Taillon lay in front of the pitcher's mound for several minutes while being tended to by trainers, then remarkably opted to stay in the game.
Taillon was making his return to Pittsburgh's lineup after being placed on the disabled list late last month with right shoulder fatigue. The second overall pick in the 2010 draft entered the game 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five starts this season.
