The Dude, Others Need Your Vote

There are some fan favorites up for Phillies immortality

Darren, “The Dude,” and a "Kruker," Too.

These Phillies legends were among the 12 nominees who could forever be honored on Ashburn Alley’s Wall of Fame.

Pitchers Jack Baldschun, Gene Garber, Jim Konstanty, Ron Reed, and Larry Christenson were among the the Alumni class of 2010 nominees.

Konstanty won an MVP Award but the others never really dazzled but did put in solid years in red pinstripes.

Joining these flamethrowers were a bunch of other former good players but none that ever won a major award. Catchers Darren Daulton and Jimmy Wilson, first baseman John Kruk, outfielders Lenny Dykstra, Greg Gross and Von Hayes and manager Jim Fregosi were all on the ballot.

Consideration is given to retired players who displayed "longevity, ability, character and contributions" to the Phillies and baseball, according to the team.

The Wall of Fame ceremony was set for Citizens Bank Park on Friday, Aug. 6. CBP should be rowdy with the always "friendly" New York Mets  in town for Phillies Alumni Weekend.

Voting for the Wall began Tuesday on Phillies.com. It wraps up on March 23.

Happy voting, Phightins Faithful!
