Flyers Make More Moves

Top penalty-killer Powe gets sent to Minnesota

The Flyers "Wild" off-season continued Monday.

The Orange and Black traded restricted free agent Darroll Powe to the Minnesota Wild and then re-signed young forwards Andreas Nodl and Tom Sesito.

The Flyers will receive Minnesota’s third round pick in the 2013 NHL draft for the 26-year-old center, according to Philly.com.

The moves come days after the Flyers sent off former captain Mike Richards and leading scorer Jeff Carter in separate trades.

(Powe) is “one of the most underrated players in the league,” GM Paul Holmgren said.

Powe was a great penalty killer for the Flyers. He played the second most penalty-killing minutes this year for the team.

Nodl received a two-year deal worth $845,000 per year, according to CSNPhilly.com. The 24-year-old played in 67 games last season while recording 11 goals and 11 assists.

6-foot-5, 228-pound left winger Tom Sesito was also brought back. The 23-year-old "enforcer" will try to make the NHL team for the fall.

Last season he spent 11 games with the Flyers AHL affiliate the Adironack Phantoms. He had 55 points with 21 goals and 34 assists splitting time between the Phantoms and the Columbus Blue Jackets minor league squad.
