The Eagles didn't reach far when grabbing their newest punter. The Birds signed Pennsylvania-native Ken Parrish to handle backup punting duties.
Parrish, a native of East Stroudsburg, Pa., punted at his hometown college where he averaged 40.3 yards per punt and downed 59 of his 174 career punts inside the 20-yard line, according to Bleeding Green Nation.
Parrish was with the San Francisco 49ers during the 2007 preseason but he never kicked in a regular season NFL game.
The 6-foot, 1-inch punter seems like a long shot to make the Birds. He is listed as behind veteran poocher Sav Rocca on the Eagles depth chart.
It's unlikely that Parrish will replace Rocca on the regular season roster but for now it's cool that the Birds are giving a local guy a shot.
