Philly Man Threatened to Kill Congressman and His Family: FBI

Man allegedly made death threats against the Va. congressman calling him "Lucifer"

A Philadelphia man was taken into federal custody after he allegedly threatened a high-profile GOP congressman.

Norman Leboon, 38, allegedly recorded a video in which he threatened to kill U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia and his family, according to the U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia Monday.

The video was then uploaded to YouTube, before being flagged, officials said.

In the video, Leboon calls himself the "Messiah" and claims the high-ranking Republican is "Lucifer."

"You are a liar, you're a Lucifer, you're a pig, a greedy f---ing pig, you're an abomination, you receive my bullets in your office, remember they will be placed in your heads. You and your children are Lucifer's abominations,” Leboon allegedly said according to an affidavit.

Leboon, who lives in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, has more than 500 videos on his YouTube channel [NSFW]. Under his profile, the man lists says it's his hobby "To bring peace in the world!"

In a video titled All Gay and lesbians in the Armed forces [NSFW], the man says he's the "worst nightmare to all major governments."

Dressed in what appears to be a bathrobe, Leboon goes on to "recall" all of his "gay and lesbian children in the armed forces" before he "destroys all those serving in the military."

"You will turn your guns in. You will not serve for these filthy commanders, these presidents and prime ministers," he says in the video.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Reid told a federal judge Monday that Leboon seems to be suffering from "major" psychiatric issues.

Reid also said that it doesn't appear Leboon was upset with Cantor over the health care reform legislation like other members of congress who've received threats in recent days.

But Cantor did claim to have been the target of several threats recently because of his Jewish faith. The most recent incident occurred last week with a bullet being fired through at window at the congressman's campaign office in Richmond, Va.

There is no link between that incident and Leboon.

Leboon was taken into custody at his home along the 1600 block of Benner Street last week. He was also wanted by Philadelphia Police on an unrelated warrant at the time of his arrest.

Leboon faces two counts of making threats against an elected official. If convicted of the crimes, the man could face 15 years in prison and up to $500,000 in fines.

He is being held without bail pending a psychiatric evaluation.
