Lautenberg's Widow to Raise Cash for Booker

The wife of the late U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey will raise money for his successor even though she initially campaigned against him.

The Star-Ledger of Newark reports Bonnie Englebardt Lautenberg will host a fundraiser for U.S. Sen. Cory Booker at her home in New York's Hamptons next month.

Booker won the seat in October and is seeking a full-term against Republican Jeff Bell in November.

Lautenberg's family supported U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone in last year's primary against Booker. Lautenberg's son, Josh, said he thought Booker was more concerned with his celebrity status than doing the job that his father did for the state.
