Corbett Campaign to Air First Post-Primary TV Ads

Gov. Tom Corbett is airing his first TV campaign ads since the primary election settled the race to be his Democratic Party competitor in the Nov. 4 general election.

The ads were set to begin airing statewide Tuesday. No details were immediately available from the campaign, although the Republican governor has been focusing heavily on Pennsylvania's economic performance under him.

Corbett, a Republican, has four months to turn around a huge polling deficit. Leading him is Democrat Tom Wolf, a York County businessman who served briefly in former Gov. Ed Rendell's cabinet and blew away the four-way Democratic Party primary field with an effective TV ad campaign.

Boosting Wolf was $10 million of his own money that helped him outspend his primary rivals. As of June 9, Corbett reported having $4.8 million in his campaign account. Wolf reported $3.1 million.
