Donald Trump was fined $10,000 by New York City after his attorneys missed a hearing to determine if the company that manages his midtown tower violated an agreement with the city over a bench in the lobby.

Attorneys for the businessmen didn't show up at the hearing Thursday with the city's Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings to determine whether he violated the public space agreement in Trump Tower in midtown, according to the city.

The City's Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings said Trump and his counsel has 45 days to request a new hearing. If they don't, Trump will have to pay the fine within 60 days or risk being sent to collections.

Michael Cohen, an attorney for Trump, attributed the missed hearing to a "scheduling error."

"A rehearing will be immediately sought where evidence of compliance will be demonstrated," he said.

The Wall Street Journal said the hearing stemmed from a series of citations from the city dating back to last summer, when a pair of 40-foot counters selling Trump-branded merchandise — including "Make America Great Again" hats — were installed.

The city ordered Trump to remove the kiosks and install a 22-foot bench that was part of a 1979 agreement to make Trump Tower bigger in January, the Journal reports. In March, Trump was cited again for not immediately removing the stores and installing the bench.
