Young Boys Save 6-Year-Old From Drowning

7-year-old and 10-year-old boys save child's life

Two local boys passed a lifeguarding test – about 10 years before they can legally hold the job.

Seven-year-old Connor Gift and 10-year-old Brett Brossman saved a 6-year-old boy from drowning Sunday while they were all attending a party at an Upper Moreland, Pa. residence.

The boys were attending an end-of-season party for a youth baseball team on the 4100 block of Thistlewood Road June 14. At about 1:40 p.m. Connor and Brett saw the 6-year-old boy submerged in the swimming pool at the private residence, according to the Willow Grove Fire Company.

Brett and Connor pulled the boy from the pool only to discover he was not breathing and had no pulse. Off-duty Willow Grove volunteer fireman Vincent Schultz gave the boy CPR and soon the 6-year-old was breathing again.

The boy was rushed to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment.
