Violent Tacony Invasion Starts at Home, Ends at Store

The masked suspects allegedly broke into the home of a male employee of the Quick Stop on Torresdale Ave. before forcing him to the store.

Police are reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to find the men responsible for a home invasion and violent store robbery in the Tacony section of Philadelphia.

Authorities say that three armed men broke into the Hagerman Street home of a 44-year-old man. According police, two of the suspects then forced him out of his house and transported him to his place of employment -- the Quick Stop Convenience Store on Torresdale Avenue -- leaving behind the third suspect and the victim's family.

Once at the Quick Stop, they proceeded to rob the store and strike the victim in the face. The two suspects left the employee at the store and returned to his home to pick up their accomplice.

Store owner Kal Besh tells NBC Philadelphia that he believes the employee was targeted.

“You guys make money at the store, so you should have money at the home. They couldn’t find much money, maybe, so they bring him over to the store,” Besh said.

The three men made off with between $5,000 and $7,000 in cash from the Hagerman Street home and between $8,000 and $9,000 from the Quick Stop.

Police are currently reviewing surveillance video. Besh and his employee are hopeful the video will help find the suspects.

The victim, who was struck in the face during the incident, is OK.
