Vandals Suspected in Pa. School Bus Accident

State police probe lugs after school bus loses wheels

State police in western Pa. are trying to determine whether someone loosened the lug nuts on a school bus that lost a pair of driver's side rear wheels with about 25 elementary school students on board this morning.

Students from the Johnsonburg Area School District were on a field trip.

State police say no students were hurt in the incident at about 9:15 a.m. on Route 28 near Tarentum. The bus was headed to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh.

Troopers from Ridgway, Elk County say other buses from Joseph Muccio Transportation have suffered possible vandalism recently, including one missing a transmission drain plug.

WPXI Pittsburgh reported the bus was inspected after it was towed from the scene. A report on the inspection hasn’t been released.

The students were put on another bus to continue the field trip.
