Police say two University of Delaware students were robbed by a woman who threatened that she had a gun.
Newark police say the two female students were walking on East Main Street approaching Academy Street on Tuesday evening when a woman approached. They say the woman then grabbed a purse from one of the students and ran away.
That's when the students began chasing her.
But police say the woman soon realized the purse had no money in it and turned around, telling the young women she had a gun and demanding their money.
The student whose purse hadn't been stolen then gave the woman her money.
A group of witnesses chased the woman, but she got away.
