Trial Start Date Set for Carlesha Abduction Suspect

The federal trial for Delvin Barnes, accused of kidnapping a Philadelphia woman off the street and holding her hostage for nearly three days, is set for May.

Barnes, 37, pleaded not guilty to kidnapping charges in mid-November. He will face a federal jury on May, 4, 2015.

The trial was originally scheduled to begin in January, but it was pushed back after a defense request for additional time, according to public records.

Barnes is accused of kidnapping Carlesha Freeland-Gaither on Nov 2.

The attack, which was captured on video, shows a man grabbing Freeland-Gaither moments after she stepped off a bus and throwing her in a car.

Investigators tracked the suspect and captured him in Maryland.

Barnes, who authorities have described as a "vicious predator," was charged federally a day after his arrest.
