4 Teens to Face Charges After Lockdown at Phila. High School

Four teens will face charges after a gun threat prompted a lockdown at a Philadelphia high school.

Police said they received a report Wednesday morning which stated that a Martin Luther King High School student had a gun and was on his way to the school. The school was immediately locked down, officials said, and police located the teen and arrested him at Fern Rock Transportation Center, at 10th Street and Nedro Avenue. Police said the student, who was enrolled at the high school on Stenton Avenue near Haines Street in East Germantown but didn't attend any classes this year, never made it onto school grounds.

Investigators said an investigation earlier in the week into a stolen gun used in an armed robbery was connected to the gun-threat report and lockdown.

Police later told NBC10 they found the gun which prompted the threat and determined that three other teens were all in possession of the weapon at some point. All four teens will face violations of the uniform firearms act and receiving stolen property charges, according to police.

No other schools were affected by the lockdown, which came a day after the Community College of Philadelphia was locked down after a report of a person with a gun on campus.
