Police say a 7-year-old died after he was hit by a folding table that collapsed at a school in northern New Jersey.
New Milford Detective Lt. Frank Ramaci tells The Record newspaper the boy was attending an indoor sporting event at the Berkley Street Elementary School.
One the cafeteria benches, which is mounted to a wall, somehow came loose, collapsed and struck Brendan Jordan on the head.
Jordan's coach, a New Milford police officer, started first aid right away. Ramaci says the death is under investigation and he plans to offer counseling to his officers.
