Students Hold Die-In at Temple University

Students at Temple University held a die-in protest Thursday afternoon as a demonstration against racism.

As part of the protest, students dropped to the ground in unison at 12:25 p.m., 12:35 p.m. and 12:55 p.m. in the center of the school's North Philadelphia campus. They also marched through several school buildings.

The demonstration comes a day after more than 100 protesters held a similar protest at 30th Street Station. Following that die-in, the protesters marched through Center City to disrupt traffic and eventually tried to shut down the city's holiday tree lighting ceremony.

The protests follow the #BlackLivesMatter movement that has gained national attention in the wake of the deaths of teen Michael Brown and a New York man, Eric Garner, who died after being put into a chokehold by an officer. Neither police involved in the cases were charged, sparking outrage.
