School Bus Driver Questioned in Northeast Philly Crash

Police are questioning a school bus driver after a Wednesday morning crash in Northeast Philly sent 10 children to local hospitals.

The bus driver, of Leahy Transportation, lost control and crashed into four parked vehicles near the intersection of Hoff and Lott streets in the city's Busleton section around 8:20 a.m., according to witnesses at the scene.

The bus was carrying 23 kids -- heading to the nearby Anne Frank Elementary School -- when the crash occurred, according to officials.

"They looked a little shooken up," said Jolanda Torres, a student's parent who witnessed the crash. "Some of them were crying, some of them... you could just see a stunned look on their face"

Authorities setup a triage station at the school to evaluate all 23 students traveling on the bus, officials said.

Medical personnel are evaluating the 10 kids sent to local hospitals, but it is unclear if any suffered injuries in the accident.

Two of the parked vehicles struck by the bus, which came to a stop on a lawn, belong to school teachers, according to authorities.

Earlier Wednesday morning, at least four people, including one child, were hurt when another school bus and a sedan collided in southwest Philly.
