The southbound lanes of a Camden County highway were shut down after a school bus crash that left two drivers hurt and also knocked out power to thousands of customers.

Luckily no students were on the Winslow Township School District yellow bus when it collided with a red car along Route 73 at Cooper Folly Road in Winslow Township, N.J. around 8 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The red sedan became partially wedged underneath the side of the bus in the crash. A partial piece of the bus, on the driver's side was also sheered off near the undercarriage.

Winslow Township Police Cpt. Richard Ostermueller said that emergency crews rushed both the bus driver and car driver to Virtua Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It wasn't clear if the bus driver had just dropped off students or was going to pick up students at the time of the wreck.

Atlantic City Electric reported more than 1,200 power outages nearby as a result of wires struck during the wreck. Power was restored to most those customers shortly after 9 a.m., according to a power company spokesman.

By 9a.m. crews could be seen removing the car and bus from the roadway. About 30 minutes later the roadway reopened.

Ostermueller said the cause of the crash remained under investigation and that neither driver was immediately charged.
