Police Officers Deliver Baby

A woman and her newborn baby are doing well thanks to a group of local police officers.

On Monday at 2:42 a.m., police were called to a home at the Sherbrooke Estates in West Windsor, New Jersey, for a report of a woman in labor and in “imminent delivery.”

West Windsor Township Police Patrolman Silcox and Patrolman Erkoboni arrived at the home where they found a 35-year-old woman in labor. Patrolman Hojnacki and Patrolman Abade arrived shortly after to help.

Erkoboni kept slight pressure on the child’s head while encouraging the woman to push. The newborn was then delivered at 2:44 a.m.

West Windsor Township Police Sergeant McMahon then arrived with an Obstetric kit and provided suction to the baby’s airway. McMahon also clamped the umbilical cord and allowed the child’s father to cut it.

Paramedics then arrived at the scene and the mother and child were taken to the hospital. Police say they both appear to be healthy.
