A Pennsylvania state House vote on a bill that is designed to provide crucial revenue for cash-strapped Philadelphia public schools is being postponed a few more days.
House Republican leaders put off a vote Wednesday and said it's now expected Monday.
The bill has been caught up in wrangling since June. Both the House and Senate have both approved legislation to authorize a $2-per-pack cigarette tax in the city in an effort to provide about $83 million a year to the state's largest school district.
But House and Senate Republican leaders have fought over other elements that had been in the bill, including local hotel taxes and a small-city economic development program.
The bill now includes just the Philadelphia cigarette tax provision. The state already imposes a $1.60 cigarette excise tax.
