Philadelphia Shootings Leave Man Dead Under the El, Wound 2 Others

Police say a man was shot to death underneath an elevated transit line in Philadelphia and two other people were injured by gunfire around the city.

The 35-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to the chest under the Market-Frankford El in Kensington just after 1 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than a half-hour later.

Police in west Philadelphia said a 21-year-old man who struck several parked vehicles in west Philadelphia shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday may have been trying to flee the scene on foot when he was shot in the neck, stomach and buttocks.

In south Philadelphia, a 21-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting in a breezeway adjacent to a home shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
