Pennsylvania Student Killed in Apparent Murder-Suicide

The Allegheny County medical examiner has released the names of a Carnegie Mellon University student and a man found shot in an apparent murder-suicide in a Pittsburgh apartment.

The 26-year-old student was Chalalai Chaihirunkarn and the man, 29-year-old Bryan Springer.

The medical examiner's office says they lived together in the apartment, where city police found their bodies about 1:45 p.m. Thursday. Police had been asked to check on the woman's welfare by friends who hadn't seen her for days.

Autopsies were scheduled for Friday, though investigators say it appears Springs shot the woman before shooting himself. Springer was not believed to be a student.

The apartment building is off campus, but near the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon campuses.
